A Malaysian Affair:
A Tapestry of Malaysian Songs
This year, TASA Young KL Singers (YKLS), will celebrate the Malaysian musical heritage that is as diverse as the country itself, representing musical styles of different great individuals who have shaped this rich tapestry of songs.
‘A Malaysian Affair’ will showcase songs comprising arrangements of heartwarming folk songs, ballads, patriotic anthems, contemporary and experimental pieces. The icing on the cake will be specially commissioned works for the choir – never before performed in public, by established composers/arrangers and budding young composers/singer-songwriters from the choir and from the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA), a leading music conservatoire in the country. YKLS will also be performing a medley of evergreen & well-loved songs made popular by the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee and Sudirman.
This concert doubles as an avenue for young composers and singer-songwriters to be heard, as they will inevitably be the voice of our country's musical future. Fuelled with the choir’s trademark pizzazz, ‘A Malaysian Affair’ is set to entertain audiences of all ages - a show not to be missed!
